Grammar & Composition Writing
This consists of weekly one-hour sessions. Students will learn about the fundamental principles of grammar. They will be required to apply these principles in weekly grammar exercises and writing assignments. Students will also learn how to write, organize, and structure essays and research papers.

Reading Critically & Building Vocabulary
This consists of weekly one-hour sessions. Students will be assigned weekly readings, which will be thoroughly discussed in class. They will also learn to analyze how writers effectively communicate their ideas, and model after them. Students are expected to write reflection papers based on what they read. Vocabulary building will be based on words drawn from the readings.

Creative Writing
This consists of weekly one-hour sessions. Students will read and examine poetry and stories for inspiration on how to write creatively. To stir their imagination, students will be given interesting and sometimes challenging writing assignments. They will also learn to revise their work after receiving feedback from the instructor.

Conversational English
This consists of weekly 45-minute sessions. Students will learn to express their ideas orally on a wide range of topics. Discussions may be about current events, topics of general interest, or assigned readings. Class improvisations will take place sporadically to teach students to “think on their feet.” This learning format is ideal for group instruction.
